This year has given us so many examples of that, such as anti-LGBTQ+ laws, laws against the restriction of abortion in Poland or the deterioration of press freedom in several countries are some of those examples, especially due to my Erasmus exchange in Poland 2 years ago.

European ideals and dreams established roughly 70 years ago are facing backlashes, both in the minds of ordinary citizens as well as in those of government leaders and politicians.Ģ020, a year full of crises, protests and numerous polarizing debates, has shown me that we simply should not accept a reversal of our achievements. I’d say we can all agree that the European Union, just like most other geographical areas in the world, has been becoming more and more polarized in the course of this dreadful year: 2020. This notion of solidarity is exactly what concerns me when I look at our daily lives and our present-day society. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan.
